Environmental Management or Ecosystem Management is the branch of science that studies how a community can manage its natural resources and preserve them for future generations. Energetic Theory, Environmental Analysis, and Economics are four important components of this discipline. There are different objectives of an Ecosystem Management Planning Process; these include the creation of a quality resource base, protection and preservation of the environment, economic development of the area and improvement in the quality of life for all. An environmental planner works with the local people and the designing organizations as well as other specialized staff to realize the planning process.

Environmentally managed resources are considered to be assets for the community because they are the source of livelihood for the people living in the community. In many communities, environmental management is carried out through a broad range of management activities. These activities may include biological treatment and removal of waste and recycling of solid wastes, including air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, out buildings and storage. Ecosystem management refers to the planning, production and maintenance of natural resources.

The scope of environmental planning is enormous and involves numerous activities for Ecosystem Management. These include ecological restoration, assessment and protection of natural resources, assessment of ecological data such as population trends, ecological values, and future conditions, design and implementation of projects aimed at ecological production and maintenance, and education and communication on environmental issues. These activities form the basis of a community's environmental management system. The planning process involves the involvement of all sections of the community, including business, government, schools, families, non-government organizations and individuals.

There are many benefits of environmental management. It plays a vital role in the overall conservation of human health and the community as a whole. A well-planned community environmental management plan has a number of important objectives. These include reducing the impact of development on the environment; ensuring safety and security of the community; promoting economic growth and employment; providing a sustainable quality of life; preventing degradation of the quality of the environment; and protecting ecosystems and biodiversity. All of these objectives should be able to meet the current and future needs of the community.

Community planning, environmental management and environmental planning are often carried out together. This is done through the involvement of all sections of society. This also involves the involvement of all relevant stakeholder groups such as businesses, government, schools and non-governmental organizations. Through this process we can come up with a sustainable picture of the community's environment. Through this planning, we can take necessary and adequate steps towards achieving our goals. We can also ensure that our environment is free from any kind of harm and pollution.

The process of environmental management aims to create a healthy and livable environment for everyone. It also provides a sense of security to the people living in the community. Community environmental management thus aims at protecting the community from the environmental threats it faces. Apart from this, it helps in the maintenance of the natural resources of the area in which it is implemented.

Community environmental management thus aims at several critical tasks. These include the reduction of environmental risks; maintaining and improving the ecological condition of the local area; enhancing the quality and quantity of the eco-systems; and providing guidelines for the use of the eco-systems and the living environments of the local area. The planning stage of the process involves the coordination of various activities and projects that need to be carried out to protect and improve the quality of the local environment. The next phase involves the implementation of the strategies decided during the planning phase.
